What’s Being Done

Most gun laws do not play out how they were intended to in the real world. First, laws made at the state level are far less effective than those made at the federal level. Dr.Kaufman said to CBS News,”Specifically, in the U.S. most firearm policy is made at the state level, but states do not exist in a vacuum, and firearms can cross state lines, just like any other consumer good” Elinore Kaufman M.D.. There will always be a way to go around laws illegally. To decrease crime rate there needs to be a stronger enforcement of the laws that are in place. If there is not gun laws will not be as effective as they should be to decrease crime. Laws that should be enforced are basic ones that focus on the person and not type of gun or limits to the gun. An example of a law that focuses on the person are a type of license needed to purchase a gun, or laws requiring a thorough background check based off of a study done by CBS News. In order for a law to be effective in decreasing crime rates, it must be at a level that is universal, as well as strongly enforced.
