Gun laws have a direct role in maintaining the safety of citizens making it a matter of national security. First, let’s take the very controversial topic of having an armed person on public school grounds. On most public school campuses there are security guards and other safety procedures and measurements such as bullet proof windows, procedure manuals, or alarms. Yet what is that going to help if there is no immediate authority on campus. The reality of hiring a security guard would not be as effective as having a trained armed security guard. Next, CNN addresses Gun crime as a threat to our national security,”After all, homicides around — 70% of which are accomplished with firearms in the United States” CNN reporter Peter Bergen puts heavy emphasis on such firearms as semi-automatic rifles like the AR-15 and hand guns.
