Terrorism

We look at terrorists as a matter of national security, but deaths caused by terrorist organizations in the United States since 9/11 is not even in the triple digits. So why would we not look at gun crime committed by citizens the same? The United States has one of the highest gun crime rates compared to other countries. “Britain, with around a fifth of the population of the United States, had 41 gun murders in 2010 while the States had around 10,000.”(Bergen) Our country is one of the most civilized and superior countries in the world, yet the chance of you getting shot in New Orleans is six times higher than the chance in Afghanistan. Gun laws may not be what the United States needs to increase National Security, but rather more unity and respect for human life.
